Torrey Pines Property Management, Inc. was established in 1983 as an outgrowth of three principal founders’ mutual desire to provide quality property management services throughout San Diego County. Two founders, Mr. Lawrence D. Crandall, President, and Mr. William C. Brehm, CPM, Vice-President, were instrumental from 1977 to 1983 in the operation and development of a rapidly growing property management/investment company owned by a large Certified Public Accounting firm. This firm acquired and managed investment real estate throughout San Diego County for tax clients. Mr. Crandall was Vice-President, in charge of acquisitions, and Mr. Brehm was President/General Manager of the Property Management division. The third founder, Mr. Andrew E. Nelson, is President and Owner of Willis Allen Company, headquartered in La Jolla and one of San Diego’s oldest (since 1914) and most respected residential real estate brokerage firms. Spearheaded by Mr. Crandall’s vision, the three founders were assembled to collectively provide expertise and honesty in the acquisition and management of investment real estate. Mr. Crandall’s vision became a reality on January 17, 1983 when Torrey Pines Property Management, Inc. opened its doors for business. Since then, the company has shown consistent growth, developing a workplace environment of devoted employees, a key component to the success of a service business. The firm currently manages over 3,000 apartment units and approximately 250,000 square feet of office and retail space. Torrey Pines has always been a premier property management firm in the area of true income property. Out of tremendous demand from the La Jolla residential community, a home management department was created to fulfill this need. Hence, approximately 70 homes are now under management. Additionally, client demand required TPPM to offer selective brokerage services to provide the trust and evaluation skills their clients need in the area of acquisitions, exchange of properties and commercial leasing. In the negotiating process, TPPM’s clients know that their needs are of primary concern. Today, Mr. Crandall and Mr. Brehm continue to oversee a staff of highly trained personnel while Mr. Nelson serves as Co-Chairman and operational advisor. In July 2000, TPPM was awarded the prestigious designation of Accredited Management Organization (AMO) by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). In order to qualify for the AMO designation, TPPM was required to meet IREM’s stringent standards of experience, financial stability, insurance protection and ethical integrity. There are just a few property management firms in San Diego County that have reached this level of accomplishment. |
